What Walkie stores
Walkie stores dog profiles, selected photos, walk dates, duration, distance, sniff counts, optional routes, titles and notes on your device. When available, private iCloud sync keeps this journal under your Apple account. We cannot browse that private iCloud journal. If you deliberately use Care Together or account-bound purchases, our separate service stores the account identifier, protected sign-in records, selected shared-dog identifiers, names, breeds and coats, purchase-verification records and current sharing permissions. From your private journal, only walks you share enter that service: once you've paired and matched a shared dog on this iPhone, new walks with that dog are shared automatically with their photos, and you can share other walks one at a time; matching dogs or pairing does not upload your earlier walk history.
Location, maps, and weather
Location permission is optional. An active walk can record a route, including while the screen is locked. Pausing or finishing stops route recording. MapKit communicates with Apple to display maps. If you separately enable local weather, the app requests an approximate location and rounds the coordinates before requesting current conditions from Apple Weather. Weather coordinates are not saved in your journal. You can turn weather off in the sky settings and change location permissions in iPhone Settings.
Photos and Image Playground
The system photo picker gives Walkie access only to images you choose. Imported photos are resized and re-encoded without the source camera metadata. Optional Image Playground uses Apple's system interface and Apple's supported generation styles. Walkie does not enable external image providers. Save only images you want to keep in your journal or profile.
Purchases
Apple handles payment for the sharing subscription and optional icon/world collections. Walkie checks verified StoreKit purchase information; the service verifies account-bound purchases and current coverage before paid sharing or partner access. Purchase identifiers, product rights and their original account ownership are retained to verify access and prevent reassignment. Personal ownership, partner use and each phone’s artwork selection are separate. We do not receive your card details. Restore Purchases may require your App Store account; deleting a Walkie account does not cancel Apple subscription renewal.
Notifications, widgets, and Live Activities
Optional local notifications use your chosen schedule and dog's name. Widgets and Live Activities may show your dog's name, pixel companion, and walk summaries. They do not include journal photos or routes. You control notification and Lock Screen visibility in iPhone Settings.
Advertising and analytics
Walkie includes no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, cross-app tracking, or developer-operated telemetry endpoint. Apple may process data through iCloud, Maps, Weather, the App Store, and other system services under its own privacy policies and your Apple settings.
Managing and deleting your data
Private journal deletion and service-account deletion are separate actions. Deleting a memory removes that journal entry, and iCloud propagates the change when devices sync. A shared walk’s copy is removed too when the phone is signed in to Care Together and can confirm the walk’s shared copies. If removing a known copy isn’t confirmed, Walkie keeps the journal entry, says the removal isn't confirmed and asks you to try again. If the iPhone can’t see its copies, but has paired or holds sharing consent, Walkie tells you before you delete: “If it was shared, its copy stays until you stop sharing it in Journal.” Authors can withdraw shared copies, and leaving or closing a pair ends the old relationship’s shared access. Service-account deletion removes its shared content and access, revokes sign-in credentials and continues cleanup after an interruption. Minimal immutable purchase-ownership and deletion records remain to prevent reassignment or deleted authority returning from a backup. It does not delete your private iCloud journal or cancel Apple subscriptions. Removing the app alone does not guarantee removal of iCloud or service data. We cannot access or delete your private iCloud database on your behalf.
When you contact support
If you email us, we receive the address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use that correspondence to answer and resolve your request, and retain it as needed for that purpose and applicable obligations. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.
Cloudflare service and this website
Cloudflare hosts the support/invitation sites and operates the Worker, D1 database and private R2 photo storage for the optional sharing service. Shared copies are readable by the service and are protected by member permissions; they are not end-to-end encrypted. Private iCloud journal content is sent only as walks you share: new walks with a shared dog, which are shared automatically once you pair, and walks you share yourself. Cloudflare may process ordinary request information, such as IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect these services. This support site adds no advertising or analytics cookies.
